The Brawlers lost again, 128-43. Now a lopsided bout really isn’t that interesting, but the Brawlers added a little spice to it by picking a fight with the Bosse$ at the end of Sunday’s bout. Our captain yelled at their captain something about how much they suck for kicking us when we are down, and about five seconds later, we were all going at it. About five minutes later, somebody asked me if it was real. What do you think?
The other bout of the evening didn’t need a bench-clearing brawl to keep the audience’s attention. The Betties and Sirens were almost evenly-matched, with a Betties’ jammer racking up 10+ points then the Sirens putting a dent in it with their own 10-point jam. In the end, the Sirens came out ahead, 137-116.
All HRD teams get a two-month break to regroup while the HaRD Knocks and a second HRD all-star team take on Alamo City and Austin’s Honky Tonk Heartbreakers, respectively, for the Big Top Brawl in June.

The Burlesque Brawlers are trying to raise some money to cover uniform expenses, practice fees, and all those other things that add up to a bunch of broke derby girls. You might be thinking…well, they can make lots of money if they try to live up to their name…sorry, but there ain’t gonna be no pole dancing or mud wrestling involved.

I just found out that one of my wonderful derby sisters has cancer. I met Smack Bauer when I attended the Nacogdoches Rollergirls first bout in February. She was HOT…awesome jammer, lots of attitude! Kinda reminds me of someone I know…but I digress.
I’m going to be reading about how she beats this and try to send healing vibes her way. I’ve got plenty of those to go around now.

I had a great time at the art car parade last Saturday, even though nothing fell out of my top.

My favorite Houston band was there, too. I’ve known the Romeo Dogs for years.

This was sent to the entire campus by our president, a man that supposedly has a Ph.D. in something…
Is it just me and my bad attitude, or is there something really wrong with this? And I didn’t change anything except for cutting out my former (yippee! see last post) boss’ name and MPOW…I copied and pasted it without touching any font settings.
I’M SAD TO ANNOUNCE THAT TODAY WAS DR. … LAST DAY WITH …. SHE HAS DECIDED TO PERSUE ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY, WHICH TAKES HER OUT OF STATE. ALTHOUGH HER DECISION TO LEAVE THE CAMPUS WAS A SHOCK TO US ALL, I KNOW WE WISH HER ALL THE BEST. SHE HAS BEEN A POSITIVE INFLUENCE IN OUR LIVES AND WILL BE FONDLY REMEMBERED.

We may have lost to the Hotrod Honeys this Sunday, but I believe HaRD Knocks has the talent and determination to win in Austin.
The game was close in the first half (we even went ahead around the 6th jam), but the Honeys added on to the 18-point lead they had at halftime and doubled the point spread before it was all said and done. Our jammers are as fast as their jammers, but our blockers are not as fast as their blockers. I don’t think our jammers expected their blockers to be that fast. Plus, I hear we may have been robbed of some points, but I can sympathize with how hard it is to keep up with a game going that fast. Believe me, I would much rather be skating than watching. It makes you dizzy to watch.
We may get another chance at an Austin team in June. There’s a couple of weeks until that absolutely, positively needs to be finalized, so stay tuned.

Ah, May…
the sooner you get going, the sooner I can start hitting people again…
there are many who will testify that is when true mayhem will begin.

Watch out…
I plan on skating the Art Car Parade on May 12th…
but I won’t be ready for the May bout.
